2010 Neighborhood Tabulation Areas (NTAs) are medium-sized statistical geographies for reporting Decennial Census and American Community Survey (ACS). 2010 NTAs are created by aggregating 2020 census tracts and nest within Community District Tabulation Areas (CDTA). NTAs were delineated with the need for both geographic specificity and statistical reliability in mind. Consequently, each NTA contains enough population to mitigate sampling error associated with the ACS yet offers a unit of analysis that is smaller than a Community District.

Though NTA boundaries and their associated names roughly correspond with many neighborhoods commonly recognized by New Yorkers, NTAs are not intended to definitively represent neighborhoods, nor are they intended to be exhaustive of all possible names and understandings of neighborhoods throughout New York City. Additionally, non-residential areas including large parks, airports, cemeteries, and other special areas are represented separately within this dataset and are assigned codes according to their type (See NTAType field).

The data was collected from Census Bureaus' Decennial data dissemination (SF1) for the years 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010.

Street Seats is a citywide program where partners apply to transform underused streets into vibrant, social public spaces between the months of March through December (the Season). Street Seats are installed in the roadbed along the curb line to create an attractive setting for eating, reading, working, meeting a friend or taking a rest.

This data tracks active Street Seats program sites. The data contains the location of the street seats as well as the managing partners. The data is collected via Excel and tracked throughout the season. Each record represents one Street Seat location. GIS data: Community Districts (Water areas included)

Community Districts are mandated by the city charter to review and monitor quality of life issues for New York City (NYC) neighborhoods. NYC is currently comprised of 59 community districts. The first byte is a borough code and the second and third bytes are the community district number. There are also 12 Joint Interest Areas (JIAs). The JIAs are major parks and airports and are not contained within any community district. This dataset is being provided by the Department of City Planning (DCP) for informational purposes only. DCP does not warranty the completeness, accuracy, content, or fitness for any particular purpose or use of the dataset, nor are any such warranties to be implied or inferred with respect to the dataset as furnished on the website. Based on the results of the Citywide Mobility Survey, NYC DOT developed a holistic, data-driven framework to categorize streets based on pedestrian needs. The plan aims to improve pedestrian comfort and convenience as well as increase walking citywide. NYC DOT created five broad street categories to determine the pedestrian needs on the city’s sidewalks. Local Law 83 of 2021 establishes a goal for City agencies to spend at least 50% of their print, digital, radio and TV advertising budgets with Ethnic and Community Media (ECM) outlets. This is a directory of approved ethnic and community media outlets with which spend counts positively towards the 50% spend goal outlined in LL83 of 2021

This data set consists of a collection of over 80 map layers displayed on WalkNYC totems installed throughout New York City.

For each Community District, its Recycling Diversion rate (percentage of total municipal solid waste collected by the Department of Sanitation that is disposed of by recycling) and Capture Rate (percentage of total Paper or Metal/Glass/Plastic in the waste stream that is disposed of by recycling). Capture rate is the amount of materials set out for residential recycling collection as a percentage of designated recyclable materials in both recycling and refuse streams. This ratio measures how much of the targeted materials are actually being recycled, which is a measure of how successfully such materials are recycled. Please note that since 2013, DSNY no longer uses capture rate information. DOT Art collaborates with community-based organizations to commission artists to design and install temporary art on DOT property.

Per Local Law 83 of 2021, the Mayor's Office of Ethnic and Community Media is required to report annually on each agency's full advertising spend across all media categories, including ethnic and community (ECM), mainstream, out-of-home, social media, etc. This dataset reflects the raw data that MOECM received from City Agencies on their annual advertising spend.
